“It speaks to character” - do we REALLY look to our politicians for moral leadership any more?

Republicans like to talk about infidelity on the part of political candidates, stating that it speaks to the character of the man and whether he should be in a leadership position.

Is anyone still so naive that they’re looking toward a Washington politician for moral guidance any more?
